Rowly Emmett
Senior ConsultantRowland Emmett graduated from the University of Leeds in 1995 with a B.Eng. (Hons) degree in Electronic Engineering, specialising in Radio Frequency and Microwave circuit design.
Initially starting with Ericsson as a software test analyst, Rowly progressed through senior test engineer, test troubleshooting and test manager roles, working on a number of different projects including both fixed and mobile telephony products, in a number of different countries including Sweden, Ireland, Hungary and France.
The Ericsson R&D department of which he was a member, followed the CMM path. Through the efforts of himself and his colleagues, the department was rated the top R&D department in Ericsson and assessed at CMM level 3. This was achieved by using rigorous design processes allowing the greatest precision in budget plans, highest quality delivery of products and accurate delivery estimations.
From this foundation, he moved to Q-Labs, a company that offer SW development consulting and engineering services. This included process improvements through the use of CMM, CMMI and PCMM, coupled with project and test outsourcing to companies. Rowly was able to win new outsourced project development and testing contracts for the organisation and deploy process improvements piggybacked on outsourced work.
He saw the downturn in the UK IT market as an opportunity to travel and wanted to settle in Australia, lured by the lifestyle and of working in an upcoming market. Working for K. J. Ross & Associates as a senior test consultant, he has performed a number of process improvement initiatives for global banking and finance institutes and Australian government departments.
Rowly is also responsible for the Training Services arm of the company and is one of the presenters for the Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP) programme and the other courses available from K. J. Ross & Associates.
